JUNIOR HIGH MINISTRY ASSISTANT

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

At Cornerstone Jr. High Ministry, we are passionate about helping our students find and grow in an intimate and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It’s fun, energetic, and full of opportunities for our students to find a community that helps them grow in their faith.

 

The Junior High Ministry Assistant at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship works directly with the Junior High Pastor, in maintaining a high level of excellence in developing programs, content, events, teams, tools and resources that create an excellent and strategic ministry.  Junior high events are opportunities to build community, provide an evangelistic opportunity, and inject excitement among the junior high ministry.

 

Ministry Assistants will specifically oversee all logistics concerning JH events including (but not limited to): Summer Camp, Fundraisers, Retreats, Mission Trips, Lock-Ins, California Turn Around Trip, Sunday Mornings, Christmas at MDWK, Halloween at MDWK & other Volunteer Events.

 

They should lead by example and cultivate a positive spirit throughout the church family.  They should represent Christ and His church well in the community at large.  They should be a team player and follow the biblical model of sacrifice by being willing to put the needs of others in front of their own.  In all of their actions, they should be positive and supportive of the Core Values and the Vision of our church.


This is a part-time (16 hours per week) position, flexible working hours, some weekend/nights/holidays required during events.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Ministry Assistant:

  • Assist in the overall function of the Junior High Ministry. Including but not limited to tasks such as:
    • Assisting with ministry events - planning, set up, executing
    • Student leadership development 
    • Volunteer retention and development
    • Sunday and Wednesday programming
    • New student retention 
  • Ministry Assistant will report to the Junior High pastor for weekly tasks, feedback and development
  • Ministry Assistant is required to attend 40 Sundays a year and all mandatory All Staff events as stated for part-time employees by Cornerstone (I.e. Easter, Christmas, conferences, etc.)
  • Junior High events and Cornerstone ministry event attendance will be determined by supervisor and events needs
  • Weekly tasks are as follows but not limited to and may change due to ministry needs:
    • New student welcome calls, texts, retention etc.
    • Sunday and Wednesday programming, prep (ie. games, supply purchasing, leader needs). 
    • Weekly meeting with supervisor 
    • Any upcoming event needs (i.e. live design, promo on social, venue needs, vendors, supplies). 

 

Event Management:

  • Creating an annual plan for all junior high events including promotion, event oversight, staffing, financial reporting, etc…
  • Complete oversight for event plans. Plan, build, communicate, executive and evaluate all-church events.
  • Effective management of the event budget.
  • Conduct a thorough evaluation of each event and prepare a written summary within 7 days

 

Leadership

  • Build consensus, symmetry, and integration, on and through a team. Building of a leadership team of volunteers to assist with the implementation of all-church events. 
  • Enlist, equip, and empower a team of volunteers to support events.

 

Role Model in Personal Life

    • Model the qualifications of an elder (1 Tim 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4).
    • Model biblical community in his relationships (Matt 5:23-24, Matt 18:15-17, Eph 4:25-32).
    • Model biblical family life before the body (Eph 5:22-6:4).
    • Model biblical integrity in all things (1 Tim 6:11-12).


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience

  • College Degree Required
  • Highly computer literate: MS Office (Ppt, Outlook, Excel, Word, etc)
  • 2+ years experience (volunteer or staff) in a large church setting
  • Experience coordinating staff/volunteer schedules.
  • Exceptional at Numbers, Budgeting, Collecting Money, Tracking Money and Excel
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, but still able to be flexible enough to adjust with ministry changes
  • Must align with the vision, values, and doctrinal statement of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship.
  • Must be a member of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship who supports the vision and values. 

Important skills/personal traits

  • Gifted in leadership, administration and financial management
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with multiple project leaders.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
