Special Needs

F.A.Q

Our Special Needs Ministry is called “VIP”. VIP reaches out to individuals with all sorts of challenges to provide them an opportunity to experience acceptance and God’s love. We provide two unique environments, depending on the child’s needs. Our classroom environment meets in Room A110 during the 4:00pm Saturday service, and Sunday morning 9:05am and 11:55am service hour. Our “volunteer partner” option provides a buddy to assist the child in a typical classroom. A placement form must be completed prior to participation.

VIP Placement Form

A: Contact the Special Needs Ministry (VIP) Coordinator with your request/questions by emailing us at: heartland@cornerstoneaz.com Then submit a VIP Placement form. This will help us understand your child’s specific needs and begin the process of VIP placement.

A: After completing your child’s placement form, you may come to observe in our VIP class with your child. We will then partner with you to determine which environment is best for your child. Placement is also determined by volunteer availability and classroom space.

A: Once someone notifies us of their interest in volunteering in VIP, an interview is scheduled to determine their qualifications and best fit in the program. Each volunteer partner must go through a security screening process to be approved to work with children.

A: Occasionally our partners have experience working with special needs children/adults, but often this is not the case. We do provide some basic training, general guidelines and accountability, but since you know your child best and are an expert in their care, we rely upon you to help the volunteer learn how to best care for your child.

A: Communication with your child’s partner is vital so that they may provide consistent care for your child. Please pray for your child’s partner as they seek to serve you and your child.
